And I can’t force myself to give away books I haven’t read. I am now at the stage of my life when I need to pare down my belongings, and one of the hardest categories of possessions for me to shed is books. In fact, it made me so angry that I could not enjoy the book. That seemed like a really lousy deal to me. I was told that these works had been submitted by various women as work for hire, that they were paid for their work, and that they had signed a contract agreeing that the work would be the property of the publisher and they would not be acknowledged. My husband gave me this devotional book about twenty years ago. Wisdom for Women: A Daily Devotional Journalcompiled by Rachel Quillen.
